When it was announced that both Dumbledore and Grindelwald would play significant parts in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald‘, fans began to speculate about at last seeing on screen the strong attraction which years ago J.K. Rowling announced existed between the Hogwarts headmaster and one of the most dangerous wizards of all time.

However, the first statements from the film’s director, David Yates, cast aside any possibility of seeing this unfold, disappointing many fans. However, now he seems to have retracted his words to a certain extent.

Initially, according to Yates, neither the sexuality of the powerful wizard nor his relationship with Grindelwald would be shown in this sequel, explaining that it was irrelevant to the story. Now, in a recent interview with Empire Magazine, he seems to have elaborated on his past statements saying, “This part of this huge narrative that Jo is creating doesn’t focus on his sexuality, but we’re not airbrushing or hiding it.

The story [of their romance] isn’t there in this particular movie but it’s clear in what you see… that he is gay.” Furthermore the director confirmed that they had filmed a few scenes of the young Dumbledore and Grindelwald with sensual undertones. Even so, Yates does not seem to be in a hurry to develop the storyline, given that there are only three films in the ‘Fantastic Beasts‘ saga.

Nagini, the Most Anticipated Character in Sequel

After the latest trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ was realeased, at last the true identity of Claudia Kim’s character was discovered: Nagini, the deadly serpent-horcrux of Lord Voldemort. This revelation generated considerable excitement, after which J.K. Rowling responded to a few fan questions. From her answers we can learn that Nagini is a circus artist who is cursed as a Maledictus.

This curse is one which affects only women and is passed from mother to daughter, meaning that, although the witch is now able to transform from human to snake freely, she will eventually become a snake forever, thus the “gift” different to that of an Animagous. Additionally, she noted that there were many more surprises, just as exciting as Nagini’s, but those will have to wait until the worldwide premier on 16th November.
