Toy Story‘ is a saga held dear by many who grew up with the talking toys. The fourth instalment was due this year (2018), but has now been delayed for a 2019 release. During an interview, Annie Potts, the actress behind Bo Peep, has explained why.

‘Toy Story 4’ “was supposed to come out this year and then they threw out three-quarters of it and rewrote. Usually, it takes – from start to finish – two years. But because they threw most of it in the bin and started over [my time on the project has] been extended a little bit. I’ve done a lot of work on it“, revealed Potts.

Potts also mentioned the ease with which the creators at Pixar scrapped what they’d been working on thus far: “they’re funny those Pixar people. They just take their time. It’s very painstaking work. If they don’t like whole sections then they just chuck it and start over again. They have that great creative liberty to do that“.

What we know about ‘Toy Story 4’

After a significant wait, Pixar revealed ‘Toy Story 4‘ would be hitting cinemas on 21 June 2019. The film will release nine years after ‘Toy Story 3‘, a production many thought would be the last in the saga. Although the fourth instalment has suffered a few changes, Potts assured us that her character has a pretty important role in the upcoming film.

Back in 2014 John Lasseter revealed the storyline would revolve around the relationship between Woody and Bo Peep. Josh Cooley (‘Inside Out‘) will be directing the film. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen among others will be returning to voice their respective characters.
